NACHT BIS ACHT is François Sarhan’s first excursion to musical theatre for children. Elements of childlike playfulness, dreams and subconscious imagination – surrealist themes – crop up again and again in the works of the French artist. In a work commissioned by the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Sarhan has come up with a surreal and absurd piece of musical theatre that offers no answers to questions regarding time and its dimensions in reality and dreams but does present a plethora of unusual musical images. Alessandro Maggioni has crafted the objects created by the imagination of the composer.
